Shogun vs Intelligems vs Shoplift (and Ariven): Which Shopify Testing and Personalization Tool to Pick in 2026
Shogun vs Intelligems vs Shoplift (and Ariven), checked on each vendor's pricing, docs and App Store listing: what each tests, personalization and 2026 pricing.
Pick Shoplift for theme, template and page tests with Bayesian results, from $99/month by site-wide visitors. Pick Intelligems to test prices, discounts, shipping rates or checkout and judge results on profit, from $69/month by order volume (price testing has a 3-month minimum). Pick Shogun for the cheapest test entry ($39/month for 3 active tests) or if you already use its page builder. If what you want is personalization rather than testing, with each segment such as first-time ad visitors or returning customers kept on its own version of a page and measured against the original, Ariven is the personalization-first option, from $99/month.
Shogun, Intelligems and Shoplift all sell Shopify A/B testing and personalization, and on a feature checklist they look alike. Underneath, they started from different places. Shogun is a page builder company that launched a separate A/B Testing app and a Personalization app in 2025. Intelligems built its name on price testing and measures results in profit. Shoplift built its product around theme and template testing. Ariven, the fourth option here, isn't a testing tool at all: it's personalization-first, routing each segment to its own version of a page that you build.
This comparison covers features, what each can test, personalization and targeting, stats, and pricing for 2026, checked on each vendor's own site, help docs and Shopify App Store listing on November 3, 2026. It also covers "Intelligems vs Shoplift" on its own, because that's the choice many stores end up making.
Disclosure: Ariven publishes this comparison.

Shogun: the cheapest test entry, now in two separate apps
If you know Shogun, you probably know the page builder (4.8 stars from 1,977 reviews). Testing and personalization are no longer part of it for new users. The builder's own listing says "Looking for A/B testing?" and points you to a separate app, Shogun AB Testing. And per Shogun's help center, "As of the 12th of November, 2025, Personalization is no longer available to new users installing Shogun on Shopify for the first time"; new users are pointed to the standalone app. Existing users aren't affected.
You don't need the page builder. The Shogun AB Testing listing says you create variants "within your theme using Shopify's native editor," and the Personalization listing says the same for personalized variants. Shogun also has an AI variant editor in beta called Edit in Shogun, with an "Edit in Shopify" option if you'd rather use the theme editor.
What Shogun A/B Testing can test. Per its test types guide: single pages (including the cart page), templates, whole themes, split URLs, prices, product details (title, description, images and variant prices), and checkout content through Shopify's Checkout Blocks app on Plus. Shipping rate testing was removed on October 1, 2026, and Shogun says it has "no plans to bring it back right now."
Two things to know about price tests. Only one can run at a time, and launching one publishes a prepared duplicate of your theme as your live theme, which "stays your live theme after the test ends." Plan your theme edits around that.
Results. The app shows a confidence score and aims for 95% confidence before it declares a winner.
Pricing (App Store, November 2026):
| Plan | Price | Includes |
|---|---|---|
| Pro | $39/mo | 3 active tests; template, theme, page and split URL tests |
| Advanced | $119/mo | 5 active tests; product image and title tests, advanced analytics and goals, personalized test targeting, MCP access with Claude and ChatGPT, Meta and Google Ads integration |
| Unlimited | $499/mo | Unlimited tests, multi-variant tests, price testing, data export, checkout block tests (Plus) |
Shogun Personalization is a standalone app at $199/month (free on development stores, 14-day trial). You can personalize a single page, a template or your whole theme, add a variant, set an audience condition, then edit the variant in Shopify's theme editor. The listing names location, referral source, login status and return visits as segments, and use cases like matching landing pages to UTM-tagged campaigns. It launched in April 2025 and had no reviews as of November 3, 2026, so there's little independent feedback yet.
The weak spot: the A/B Testing app's rating. It's 4.2 from 46 reviews, with 13% one-star, well below Intelligems and Shoplift.
Intelligems: built for prices, offers and profit
Intelligems' App Store listing sums it up: "A/B test prices, discounts, content, shipping, checkout, post-purchase, and more." The difference from the others is breadth past the page. You can test what you charge, what you discount and what shipping costs, not just what the page looks like.
What it can test, by module (from its pricing FAQ):
- Smart Content (in every plan): landing pages, images and copy, themes and templates, split URL tests, on-site personalization.
- Smart Merchandising: discounts, gifts with purchase, quantity breaks, progress bars, cart and product page upsells.
- Smart Pricing: product prices, subscription prices, compare-at prices, multi-currency pricing.
- Smart Shipping: shipping rates, free shipping thresholds and offers.
- Smart Checkout & Post-Purchase: checkout blocks such as trust badges and upsells (Plus), plus one-click post-purchase offers.
Every plan includes tests with up to five groups (A/B/C/D/E), unlimited users and visitors, and an MCP server for Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini.
Results. Intelligems uses "a Bayesian statistical model and Monte Carlo simulations" and recommends at least 300 orders per test group and 7 days live before you read a result. It reports revenue, profit and COGS side by side, which matters most for price and discount tests, where conversion rate alone can mislead you.
Shopify plan requirements. Intelligems works on every Shopify plan, but checkout tests need Plus and shipping rate tests need Shopify Advanced or Plus.
Pricing (App Store, November 2026). Pricing scales with sitewide order volume. The listed prices are the lowest tier:
| Plan | Price |
|---|---|
| Smart Content | $69/mo ($660/yr) |
| Smart Merchandise | $112.10/mo |
| Smart Shipping | $112.10/mo |
| Unlimited | from $349/mo |
Smart Pricing can't be bought alone; it goes on top of Smart Content. Price testing carries a 3-month minimum, because Intelligems' team builds a price-test integration for your store. The 14-day trial covers every module except Smart Pricing, and there's no trial on Unlimited.
The weak spot: cost and commitment once you want price testing. If you only want theme and template tests, Smart Content at $69 is competitive.
Shoplift: theme and template testing, run as a program
Shoplift's listing describes it as "a CRO platform for Shopify Plus." Its core is testing Shopify themes and templates: you build variants in the theme editor, and when one wins, you apply it to your live theme. You can test product pages, collections, landing pages, the cart, search and navigation, run split URL tests, or test a whole redesigned theme against your live one. It adds price testing for product prices and Recharge subscription prices.
Beyond single tests, Shoplift leans on planning: "CRO campaigns" that group test ideas by goal with hypotheses and prioritization, and Lift Assist, which suggests test ideas, on Advanced.
Results. The pricing page lists "Bayesian predictive analysis" that "predicts the duration of your test in real-time," with goals including revenue per visitor, add to cart, click rate and bounce rate.
Personalization. On Advanced and Pro, Shoplift's personalization serves an audience its own theme, template or page, either always-on or scheduled into a campaign around a sale or launch. Audiences can combine new vs. returning, device, state or country, landing page, UTM and referrer, a cookie value (like a loyalty tier) and Klaviyo segments.
Pricing (App Store, November 2026). Pricing scales with site-wide monthly unique visitors, counting all visitors and not just tested ones:
| Plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing | Includes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Core | $99/mo | $888/yr (from $74/mo) | Theme, template and split URL tests, Bayesian results, mobile vs. desktop segments |
| Advanced | $399/mo | $3,588/yr (from $299/mo) | Price tests, advanced segmentation, personalization, GA4 integration, API for Claude and ChatGPT, Recharge subscription tests |
| Pro | $999/mo | $8,388/yr (from $699/mo) | Dedicated success manager, strategy sessions, CRO audit and roadmap |
Shoplift's pricing page lists annual Core at up to 50k monthly store visitors. If you go over your plan's visitor allowance, its FAQ says "your tests will be temporarily paused" until you upgrade or the billing cycle resets.
The weak spot: price. Personalization and price testing both start at Advanced ($399/month, or $299/month annually), and the visitor-based pricing climbs with traffic.
Ariven: personalization first, with each flow measured
Ariven comes at the problem from the other end. The three tools above are testing products that added personalization. Ariven is a personalization product with measurement built in. The goal isn't one winning page for everyone; it's letting each segment keep seeing a version of a page built for it.
How it works. You build an alternate version of an existing page in the Shopify theme editor, usually by duplicating a template and reworking it for one segment (see how to create a page template). Then you create a flow in Ariven saying which segment sees which version. Ariven routes each visitor in that segment to the version you assigned, on the same URL, and everyone else sees the original. Ariven doesn't build or choose pages for you. Think of it as Klaviyo-style segments and flows, applied to your storefront's pages.
Segments and measurement. First visit, returning visitor, returning customer, a specific ad or campaign, traffic source, Klaviyo segments, and similar. Ariven's own segments come from its first-party tracking, which links a shopper's repeat visits into one journey, so they work for anonymous visitors. Shopify, GA4, Google Ads and Meta can be connected to enrich the data, and an MCP server connects it to Claude or ChatGPT. Each flow is measured against the original page with built-in A/B measurement.
SEO and install. Alternate pages are set to noindex and kept out of the sitemap; canonical pages stay canonical (see personalization, site speed and SEO). It installs as an app embed with no theme code edits, and alternate pages are native Shopify pages that stay if you uninstall.
Pricing. From $99/month billed through Shopify (Starter, up to 30K sessions a month, bot traffic filtered out), every feature on every plan, 30-day free trial.
What it doesn't do: price, discount, shipping or checkout tests, popups, search or product recommendations.
The weak spot: it's new. Ariven launched on the App Store in May 2026 and has few reviews, so there's far less independent feedback than for Intelligems or Shoplift.
Intelligems vs Shoplift: the head-to-head
When ChatGPT answered "Intelligems vs Shoplift" in our research, it leaned toward Shoplift for page experimentation and Intelligems for pricing and offers. The vendors' own documentation supports that split:
- Testing pages, templates and themes: both do it. Shoplift's whole product and pricing is organized around it, with campaigns and test roadmaps on every plan.
- Testing prices: both do it. Shoplift includes it on Advanced. Intelligems has deeper pricing options (compare-at, multi-currency, subscription prices) but a 3-month minimum.
- Testing discounts, upsells, shipping rates, checkout, post-purchase: Intelligems. Shoplift doesn't list these.
- Profit reporting: Intelligems measures profit with your COGS. Shoplift reports conversion rate, revenue per visitor and AOV.
- How the bill grows: Intelligems by orders, Shoplift by visitors. A high-traffic, low-conversion store usually pays less on order-based pricing; a low-traffic, high-AOV store may pay less on visitor-based pricing.
Read each vendor's comparison page with care. Shoplift's Intelligems comparison says Intelligems uses a "frequentist model," while Intelligems' own docs say it uses a Bayesian model. Check claims against the product's current documentation, not a competitor's summary (and that applies to this page too).
Testing tools vs. a personalization tool: the real difference
All three testing tools now offer always-on personalization, and Shoplift's lets you serve an audience its own theme, template or page with no end date. So the question isn't whether they can personalize. It's how they measure an always-on experience compared with a test:
- Intelligems reports a personalization's "visitors, orders, and revenue it drove," while tests get "full experiment analytics, with significance for every group."
- Shoplift says personalizations have "no winner readout," and it measures incrementality "at the store level against a permanent holdout, across your whole program rather than per experience."
- Shogun Personalization's listing promises analytics to "track the impact of personalization on key store metrics," but doesn't say whether that's against a control group.
- Ariven measures each flow against the original page.
Klaviyo-segment targeting has a ceiling in any tool, Ariven included. It can only match shoppers Klaviyo can identify, such as someone who clicked an email. Shoplift says to expect "a smaller audience on site than the segment size in Klaviyo," and Intelligems treats a visitor Klaviyo can't identify as being in no segment. Both also offer targeting that doesn't depend on Klaviyo (UTM, referrer, new vs. returning). More on that identification gap in Klaviyo-style flows on your website.
Which should you pick?
Pick Shoplift if your testing program is mostly theme, template and page changes, you want test planning built in, and you want winners applied straight to your live theme. It fits stores with steady traffic and a team that will run tests continuously.
Pick Intelligems if you want to test what you charge: prices, discount depth, free shipping thresholds, bundles, upsells, checkout or post-purchase offers. It's also the stronger choice if you judge results on profit rather than conversion rate.
Pick Shogun if you want the lowest entry price for page, template and theme tests ($39/month), you already use Shogun's page builder and want one vendor, or you want a standalone personalization app without a testing plan. Weigh its lower review score, and note that price testing is on the $499 plan only.
Pick Ariven if you want each segment, such as first-time visitors from a Meta ad or returning customers, to keep seeing its own version of a page as an ongoing experience, measured against the original, rather than testing to find one winner for everyone. It's the fit when the segments that matter most are anonymous visitors your email platform can't identify. If you also need price or offer testing, pair it with Intelligems or Shoplift rather than expecting Ariven to cover that.
Try Shopify first if you only need occasional theme tests. Shopify's own Rollouts can run an Experiment against a control on the Grow plan or higher, with a 50/50 split by default. See our guide to A/B testing with Shopify Rollouts.
Whichever testing tool you pick, check your traffic first. Intelligems recommends 300 or more orders per group, so a two-group test needs about 600 orders before the result means much. Our Shopify conversion rate benchmarks help you estimate how long a test will take. For a wider list of options, see the best Shopify personalization apps.

Frequently asked questions
Is Intelligems or Shoplift better for Shopify A/B testing?
It depends on what you want to test. Shoplift is centered on theme, template, page and split URL tests, with Bayesian results on conversion rate, revenue per visitor and AOV, and it adds price tests on its Advanced plan. Intelligems covers the same content tests but goes further into prices, discounts, upsells, shipping rates, checkout and post-purchase offers, and reports profit using your own COGS. Page experimentation favors Shoplift; pricing and offers favor Intelligems.
Do you need the Shogun page builder to use Shogun A/B Testing or Shogun Personalization?
No. Both are separate Shopify apps from the page builder. Shogun's App Store listings say A/B test variants are created within your theme using Shopify's native editor, and personalization variants are created within the native Shopify editor. Since November 12, 2025, personalization is no longer available inside the page builder for new Shopify installs, so new users need the standalone Shogun Personalization app.
How much do Shogun, Intelligems and Shoplift cost in 2026?
As listed on the Shopify App Store in November 2026: Shogun A/B Testing costs $39, $119 or $499 per month, and Shogun Personalization costs $199 per month. Intelligems starts at $69 per month for Smart Content and scales with monthly order volume, with Unlimited listed from $349 per month. Shoplift costs $99, $399 or $999 per month on monthly billing, scaling with site-wide monthly visitors, and less on annual billing.
Which of these tools can test shipping rates?
Only Intelligems, through its Smart Shipping module, which tests flat, weight and zone rates and free shipping thresholds. It needs Shopify Advanced or Plus because it relies on Shopify's carrier rate API. Shogun retired shipping rate testing on October 1, 2026, Shoplift does not list shipping rate tests, and Ariven does not test prices or shipping.
Is there an alternative to Shogun, Intelligems and Shoplift for personalization?
Yes. Ariven is a Shopify personalization app rather than a testing tool. You build alternate versions of your pages in the Shopify theme editor, then create flows that say which segment sees which version, such as first visit, returning customer, a specific ad or a traffic source. Ariven routes each visitor in that segment to the assigned version on the same URL, works for anonymous visitors, and measures each flow against the original page. It starts at $99/month with a 30-day free trial, but it does not do price, discount or shipping tests.
